Expert System, the semantic technology company, today announced the development of an innovative search engine for the BPM Group, a multi-regional bank, to ensure easy and timely retrieval of information within the group’s internal information portal.
The Cogito SEE Portal semantic search engine adopted by BPM understands the meaning of text in order to capture the most relevant information within documents, making them accessible with greater precision and immediacy. As a result, the search engine facilitates access to important documentation to all of the group’s banks (Banca Popolare di Milano, Banca di Mantova and Webank) through a single portal.
Semantic technology enables users to conduct a general search or use filtering to narrow down results. The search engine is able to understand the intent of natural language queries and is even more powerful thanks to the integration with Microsoft Share Point, and autocompletion, ‘did you mean?’ features, as well as the correlation of documents relevant to the user’s request.
“BPM Group’s selection of semantics for information management reinforces the potential of semantic technology for the financial sector,” said Luca Scagliarini, VP, Strategy & Business Development, Expert System. “Our work with BPM and other banking leaders highlights the benefits of semantics for an industry that requires great precision in managing and accessing information.”
