Expert System, leading provider of semantic software that searches, discovers, classifies and interprets text information, today announced that the company was selected to participate in the “Italy of Innovators” showcase at the 2010 Shanghai Expo on May 1, 2010. The Italy of Innovators recognizes the most innovative and inventive technologies in Italy. Participants have the unique opportunity to present to an influential international audience.
Among 450 projects presented by businesses, organizations, universities and research centers, Expert System’s COGITO Answers was chosen based on its government and mobile semantic capabilities. Cogito Answers enables quick and accurate government-to-citizen interaction through semantically-enabled natural language interfaces.
By applying Cogito Answers to mobile channels, users can express themselves simply by sending text messages to ask questions to government officials such as, “Where can I renew my passport,” or “Which pharmacies are open on Sunday?” Citizens are able to conveniently receive the information requested in just a few seconds, from wherever they are, whenever they need it, from accurate sources.
We are proud to represent the best of Italy at the 2010 Shanghai Expo, said Stefano Spaggiari, CEO of Expert System. The semantic technology sector is not typically seen as one of our country’s economic powerhouses, but this recognition demonstrates that Italy is on the cutting edge of technology innovation, a field which Expert System has known for many years.
The 2010 Shanghai Expo will be held in Shanghai, China from May 1-October 31, 2010. The expo will be comprised of 200 nations and organizations, with 70 million visitors expected over the course the 184 days. This year’s theme is focused on “Better City, Better Life” and the Italy of Innovators project highlights Italy’s most innovative and inventive ideas related to this theme.
This is a great opportunity to showcase Italy’s small and midsize businesses, whose ideas are often unknown, commented Italian Public Administration and Innovation Minister Renato Brunetta. Italy is not just about Ferrari—nor fashion, food, Finmeccanica or large industrial groups. Italy is also about its little known geniuses and the bella Italia that we bring to the world.(source: ANSA).
The selected winners from the Italy of Innovators project will be presented from July 24 – August 7, 2010 at the temporary display of Italian technology and innovation in the Italian Pavilion of the Shanghai Expo.
