– Expert System SpA co-opts new Director Marcello Pellacani following the resignation of Stefano Siglienti
Subsidiary Expert System USA Inc. defines its board, including new members Kathleen Kiernan, Richard Szafranski and Alberto Sangiovanni-Vincentelli
Expert System (EXSY.MI), a leader in multilingual cognitive computing technology, today announced that Marcello Pellacani has been co-opted as director of Expert System S.p.A. until the next Shareholder’s meeting following the resignation of Stefano Siglienti.
Stefano Siglienti resigned his position on the company’s board citing that his professional activities are no longer compatible with the growing commitment required in his role as Director. Stefano Spaggiari, CEO, Expert System, commented: “On behalf of the Board of Directors, we would like to thank Stefano Siglienti for his valuable contribution over the years, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
Furthermore, the company has expanded and amended the Board of Directors for Expert System USA Inc., its US subsidiary dedicated to the Public sector market including Critical Infrastructure, Intelligence, Defense and Law Enforcement. New board members will take office as of January 1, 2016.
The current Board of Directors for Expert System USA Inc. includes Stefano Spaggiari (CEO, Expert System SpA), Marco Varone (President and CTO, Expert System SpA), Andrea Melegari (SEVP Defense, Intelligence & Security, Expert System SpA) and Alan Calegari (CEO, Expert System USA Inc.). Joining the board are three distinguished, globally recognized professionals with extensive experience: Kathleen Kiernan, Richard Szafranski and Alberto Sangiovanni-Vincentelli.
Kathleen Kiernan is the CEO and founder of Kiernan Group Holdings, Inc., a global consulting firm specializing in law enforcement, defense, and intelligence industries, and also serves on a number of prominent intelligence sector committees and associations. Richard Szafranski is a strategic advisor for new ventures and serves as an independent Trustee on the Board of Trustees for Corporate Office Properties Trust (NYSE: OFC). He has held leadership roles in numerous public and private companies, including as an independent Director on the Board of Directors for both SBS Technologies, Inc. and Ceridian Corporation. Alberto Sangiovanni-Vincentelli (former advisor to Expert System SpA), is an IEEE Fellow (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), and since 1976, is professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley. He co-founded Cadence and Synopsys, two leading electronic design automation companies, consults with major companies and is a member of several international committees.
