The amount of data created every day is truly mind-boggling. According to EIT Digital, social media, manufacturing systems, medical devices, logistics services and countless other sources generate petabytes of data on a daily basis. It’s like saying that we are producing the equivalent of a new Library of Congress (the world’s largest library with 164 millions of books) every day! At the same time, we have the technology and skills that allow us to conduct analyses to detect, discover, and, ultimately, better understand the world around us.
This is the scenario that EIT’s Data Science Master’s program is designed to address. The EIT Digital Master School is an exclusive collaboration between the top technical universities, research institutes and leading business organizations in Europe.
Expert System’s José Manuel Gómez-Pérez, R&D & International Projects Director, hosted a seminar on May 22, 2020 as part of the Master in Digital Innovation – Data Science (DSC) offered by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), one of the nine international technical programs within the Master in ICT Innovation organized by the EIT Digital Master School.
The seminar featured Expert System’s Artificial Intelligence Knowledge Graph for Natural Language Processing.

“WHY DO WE NEED KG IN NLP?”
Knowledge graphs can be used to train Natural Language Processing (NLP)? models that are able to learn the meaning of words by linking them to explicitly represented concepts in the graph. They streamline how models are trained by jointly learning representations of words and concepts from the knowledge graph itself and from a text corpus. The knowledge graph then suggests new concepts by merging previously existing concepts and supports the alignment of existing knowledge graphs.
